Best Bait

storyImage It was the day after graduation, and a group of graduates decided to take a fishing trip to celebrate. Everyone grabbed their fishing rods and gathered up a couple bags of Catalpa worms and headed to the Burke Lake Park in Burke Virginia for a full day in an attempt to catch some great fish. The graduates went out on the pier for hours, but were only able to catch just a few fish. After awhile, an old man came by the pier. From the moment he came strolling along, the pier smelled much worse than it had already been. The smell was so unbearable, the group of graduates contemplated on leaving. Then, they noticed that he was catching twice as more as they caught in their first hour.

One of the senior went up to the man and asked him “what’s your secret?” The man then looked at the boy and said “let me see your bait.” He then went and grabbed all the bait the graduates had and showed it to the man. Without hesitation, the man dumped the whole tub of our worms in the lake then suggested they try his. As soon as he opened his tub of bait, everyone knew exactly where the stink was coming from. The man then said “Chicken liver or room temperature shrimp is choice bait when lake fishing for hungry bottom feeders. The stinker the bait, the better the catch!” A lesson the graduates never would had learned from school, yet did them well.
